Dwayne Speaks, LCSW-C
CEO & Clinical Director
Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) – Maryland
With more than 20 years of experience in human services and behavioral health, I bring a comprehensive, culturally attuned, and client-centered approach to mental health care. I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland, with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Coppin State University and a master’s degree in Social Work from Morgan State University—two institutions that have shaped my commitment to service, equity, and community wellness.

My professional experience spans a wide range of service settings, including community centers, homeless shelters, youth development programs, Head Start initiatives, and research institutions. For over a decade, I also served at the Baltimore City Department of Social Services, supporting both Child Welfare and Adult Services. These experiences have allowed me to develop a holistic, systems-informed understanding of the social, cultural, and structural influences on individual and family mental health.

I provide therapeutic services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. My areas of clinical focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief and loss, relationship concerns, identity exploration, and family systems challenges. I draw from evidence-based practices and integrate a trauma-informed, collaborative, and culturally responsive lens into every treatment plan—ensuring care is both personalized and rooted in the client’s lived experience.

As a Black male clinician, I entered this field to help address the long-standing gap in mental health access, representation, and cultural responsiveness within historically underserved communities. My work is grounded in the belief that healing is possible when people are seen, heard, and supported with compassion, skill, and integrity. I aim to be a consistent, affirming presence for those navigating life’s transitions, emotional pain, or systemic challenges.

My therapeutic style is relational, empowering, and strengths-based. I support clients in reclaiming their voice, building resilience, and accessing the tools needed to thrive—mentally, emotionally, and interpersonally.

Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy listening to and playing music, running marathons, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. These activities reflect my own values of balance, connection, and joy—principles I also encourage my clients to embrace as part of their healing journey.
